śivāvinyastacetaskā saptaviṃśativatsarān | nināya menakā prītyā paraṃ sā mṛṣṭavarcasā
Sūta Gosvāmin (narrating to the sages at Naimiṣāraṇya)
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Umāpati
Sthala Purana: Not a Jyotirliṅga account; it concludes a long sādhana period by noting the fruit: purified radiance (mṛṣṭa-varcas) arising from unwavering fixation on Śiva.
Significance: Demonstrates the Siddhānta principle that steadfast devotion and discipline refine the embodied being; ‘radiance’ signals sattva-śuddhi and readiness for Śiva’s saving grace.
Shakti Form: Pārvatī
Role: liberating
Cosmic Event: No cosmic event; the ‘inner cosmology’ is purification over twenty-seven years.
It highlights ekāgratā—an unwavering Shiva-centered mind—as a purifier that manifests as inner and outer radiance, showing how sustained devotion transforms the sādhaka over time.
By emphasizing a mind fixed on Śiva, it supports Saguna upāsanā (devotional contemplation of Shiva’s form and presence, including Linga worship) as a practical means to steady consciousness and mature devotion.
Single-pointed japa and dhyāna on Śiva—classically through the Pañcākṣarī “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”—cultivating steady remembrance over long periods as the core discipline.
