सत्यप्रतिज्ञा-तपःसंवादः
Pārvatī’s Vow of Truth and the Dialogue on Her Tapas
कपालिजायेति सती दक्षेण परिवर्जिता । यज्ञे भागप्रदानाय शंभुश्चापि विवर्जितः
kapālijāyeti satī dakṣeṇa parivarjitā | yajñe bhāgapradānāya śaṃbhuścāpi vivarjitaḥ
दक्षाने सतीला ‘कपालीची पत्नी’ असे म्हणत तिरस्कार करून दूर केले. तसेच यज्ञातील भागप्रदानात शंभू (शिव) यांनाही वर्ज्य केले.

Tattva Level: pasha

Sthala Purana: Dakṣa’s exclusion of Śiva from yajña becomes the archetype of ‘ritual without Śiva’—a sthala-purāṇa motif echoed at several Śiva-kṣetras where prideful sacrifice is corrected by Śiva’s intervention.
Type: rudram
Shakti Form: Satī
Role: liberating
Offering: naivedya
It highlights how ego-driven ritualism (Dakṣa’s pride) becomes spiritually barren: when devotion to Pati (Śiva) is rejected, even a yajña loses its sanctifying power, and the soul (Satī) is dishonored through contempt for the Lord’s form and vows.
Dakṣa’s refusal to honor Śiva shows rejection of Saguna Śiva—His manifested form, names, and symbols (like Kapālin). The Purāṇa implies that true worship, including Liṅga-upāsanā, requires reverence for Śiva’s divine presence rather than social prejudice or mere external rites.
A practical takeaway is to prioritize Śiva-bhakti alongside any ritual: japa of the Pañcākṣarī “Om Namaḥ Śivāya” with humility, and (where appropriate) Śiva-pūjā with bhasma (Tripuṇḍra) and Rudrākṣa as reminders that devotion, not pride, sanctifies worship.
