It shows how a boon that fulfills mental desire can produce intense satisfaction—yet, from a Shaiva Siddhanta view, such contentment is still within the realm of karma and worldly aims, contrasting with Shiva’s grace that grants liberation (moksha) beyond desire.
The verse depicts the outcome of receiving a boon (often granted through divine power). In Linga/Saguna Shiva worship, devotees are taught to seek not merely desired outcomes but Shiva’s anugraha (saving grace), which purifies intention and turns the mind from city-bound enjoyments toward Shiva-realization.
A practical takeaway is to redirect desire into devotion: daily japa of the Pañcākṣarī mantra “Om Namaḥ Śivāya” with vibhūti (tripuṇḍra) and a prayer that any boon sought becomes a means for inner purification rather than mere enjoyment.
