काली-परिचयः / Himagiri Presents Kālī (Pārvatī) to Śiva
हिमाचल उवाच । कस्मान्मयानया सार्द्धं नागंतव्यं तदुच्यताम् । सेवने किमयोग्येयं नाहं वेद्म्यत्र कारणम्
himācala uvāca | kasmānmayānayā sārddhaṃ nāgaṃtavyaṃ taducyatām | sevane kimayogyeyaṃ nāhaṃ vedmyatra kāraṇam
हिमाचल म्हणाला—मी हिच्यासह तेथे का जाऊ नये? ते मला सांगा. या सेवेत मी अयोग्य आहे काय? याचे कारण मला कळत नाही.
Himācala (Himavān), father of Pārvatī
Tattva Level: pashu
Shakti Form: Pārvatī
Role: teaching
It highlights humility and the desire to understand dharma in devotion—Himācala seeks the true reason (kāraṇa) behind a restriction, showing that service (sevā) must be done according to spiritual propriety, not merely emotion.
In Shaiva practice, approaching Saguna Shiva’s worship (including Liṅga-sevā) follows maryādā—rules of eligibility, role, and context. The verse reflects inquiry into that eligibility rather than assuming entitlement.
The immediate takeaway is disciplined sevā with right understanding; practically, one may adopt respectful preparatory worship—such as japa of the Pañcākṣarī “Om Namaḥ Śivāya” and purity of intention—before participating in Shiva-related rites.
