Sthala Purana: Colophon marking the completion of the chapter on āvaraṇa-pūjā in the Kailāsa-saṃhitā; not a site-specific sthala narrative.
Significance: Textual merit (śravaṇa/pāṭha-phala) traditionally associated with hearing/reciting Purāṇic chapters on Śiva worship.
It teaches that worship is not random but ordered: honoring dharmic powers (cakravartins) within the sacred enclosure culminates in reverence to Śiva as Vṛṣeśāna, the inner ruler and source of Dharma who grants purity and liberation.
By prescribing a specific placement for Vṛṣeśāna at the eastern gateway, the verse supports Saguna upāsanā—approaching Śiva through form, direction, and ritual structure, which prepares the devotee for deeper contemplation of Śiva’s transcendence.
Perform enclosure-wise (āvaraṇa) worship with directional focus, then offer special reverence at the eastern gate to Vṛṣeśāna—ideally with mantra-japa (e.g., the Panchākṣarī “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) while maintaining a dharmic, disciplined mind.
