गजाननपूजा तथा औपासन-होमविधिः
Worship of Gajānana and the Procedure of Aupāsana-Homa
अजानन्पञ्चतत्त्वानि विद्वानपि च मूढधीः । निपत्याधस्तात्प्रकृतेरुपरिष्टात्पुमानयम्
ajānanpañcatattvāni vidvānapi ca mūḍhadhīḥ | nipatyādhastātprakṛterupariṣṭātpumānayam
जो पाच तत्त्वे जाणत नाही, तो विद्वान असला तरी मूढबुद्धीच. असा जीव प्रकृतीच्या खाली पडतो; तिच्या वर उन्नत होत नाही.

Tattva Level: pashu
Sthala Purana: Not a shrine narrative; a soteriological warning: without knowledge of the five tattvas/kañcukas, the jīva remains under Prakṛti.
Significance: Functions as upadeśa: mere scholarship without tattva-jñāna does not liberate; motivates seeking Śiva-dīkṣā and anugraha to transcend Prakṛti.
Role: liberating
Cosmic Event: Bondage-condition: the puruṣa/jīva remains ‘below Prakṛti’—i.e., identified with evolutes and guṇas—without liberating discernment.
It teaches that mere scholarship is insufficient; without tattva-jñāna (right understanding of fundamental principles), the soul remains confused and stays bound beneath Prakṛti instead of moving toward liberation under Lord Shiva’s grace.
Linga-worship and Saguna Shiva devotion are meant to mature into inner discernment—seeing Shiva as Pati (the Lord) and oneself as paśu (the bound soul). Without such understanding, ritual can remain external and the soul continues to be ruled by Prakṛti.
Practice Shiva-dhyāna with the Panchākṣarī mantra (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) while cultivating tattva-viveka (discernment), so the mind turns from Prakṛti’s pull toward Shiva as the liberating Lord.
