क्व त्यानि नौ सख्या बभूवुः सचावहे यदवृकं पुरा चित् । बृहन्तं मानं वरुण स्वधावः सहस्रद्वारं जगमा गृहं ते ॥
kvá tyā́ni nau sakhyā́ babhūvuḥ sácāvahe yád avṛkáṃ purā́ cit | bृहántaṃ mā́naṃ varuṇa svadhāvaḥ sahásra-dvāraṃ jagamā gṛháṃ te ||
आता आमची ती प्राचीन सख्ये कुठे आहेत, जेव्हा आम्ही एकत्वाने एकत्र चालत होतो, आणि फार पूर्वीही त्या अवृक—अहिंस, अनिष्ट-रहित—विस्तारात प्रवेश केला होता? हे वरुणा, स्वधावन्, सहस्र-द्वार असलेल्या तुझ्या विशाल गृहात मी पुन्हा आलो आहे—तो व्यापक ऋत् मला स्वीकारो.
