Vibhishana and Indrajit: Counsel, Boast, and Rebuttal
नतातमन्त्रेतवनिश्चयोऽस्तिबालस्त्वमद्याप्यविपक्वबुद्धि: ।तस्मात्त्वयाप्यात्मविनाशनायवचोऽर्धहीनंबहुविप्रलप्तम् ।।6.15.9।।
na tāta mantre tava niścayo 'sti bālas tvam adyāpy avipakva-buddhiḥ | tasmāt tvayāpy ātma-vināśanāya vaco 'rdha-hīnaṃ bahu vipralaptam || 6.15.9 ||
"O dear ! You have no capacity for decision making. You are young and not mature. Therefore, you are talking incoherently without any sense which is self-destructive."
Dharma requires mature deliberation (mantra/niścaya) and truthful, measured speech; reckless talk driven by pride becomes self-destructive.
Vibhīṣaṇa rebukes Indrajit’s boast, warning that his immature judgment and careless words will bring ruin.
Vibhīṣaṇa’s moral courage and clarity—he speaks hard truth for the hearer’s welfare.
