Bhagīratha’s Petition for the Descent of Gaṅgā
तस्य चिन्तयतो नित्यं धर्मेण विदितात्मन:।पुत्रो भगीरथो नाम जज्ञे परमधार्मिक:।।1.42.7।।
tasya cintayato nityaṃ dharmeṇa viditātmanaḥ |
putro bhagīratho nāma jajñe paramadhārmikaḥ || 1.42.7 ||
धर्मनिष्ठेने सतत चिंतन करणाऱ्या, धर्माने ज्याचे अंतःकरण ज्ञात झाले होते, त्याच्या घरी ‘भगीरथ’ नावाचा परमधार्मिक पुत्र जन्मला।
As Dilipa known for his knowledge of the soul constantly reflected righteously on (this matter of Ganga), a highly virtuous son named Bhagiratha was born to him.
