Winter Description and Reflection on Bharata’s Devotion
ravisaṅkrāntasaubhāgyaḥ tuṣārāruṇamaṇḍalaḥ | niśśvāsāndha ivādarśaś candramā na prakāśate ||
On a fullmoon night the beams of the moon faded by forest look pale, dull like Sita scorched by the heat of the Sun.
The verse points to clarity vs. obscuration: dharmic insight requires a mind not clouded—just as the moon’s light is veiled, discernment can be veiled by conditions.
A winter-night description in the forest, using celestial imagery to convey the season’s dimness and chill.
Reflective awareness—seeing nature truthfully and expressing it with measured, instructive speech.
