Unspecified (contextual devotee/narrator voice within Bhūmi-khaṇḍa)

Concept: Even if all supports—stability, moral certainty, or intellectual clarity—seem to collapse, refuge in the Lord makes fear powerless.

Application: In crisis, do not anchor identity in external stability or even in one’s own ‘knowledge’; anchor in remembrance and surrender, then act responsibly without panic.

Primary Rasa: vira

Secondary Rasa: shanta

Visual Art Cues: {"scene_description":"The cosmos trembles—mountains tilt, oceans surge, and stars blur—yet a small devotee stands calm within a luminous sphere of Viṣṇu’s protection. Above, the Lord appears vast and steady, His gaze compassionate, as if the shaking worlds are merely ripples on His unchanging presence.","primary_figures":["Vishnu (cosmic form)","steadfast devotee","personified trembling worlds (symbolic)"],"setting":"A mythic landscape where earth and sky meet: cracked ground, swirling clouds, distant collapsing palaces, yet a central lotus-platform of light remains intact.","lighting_mood":"divine radiance","color_palette":["storm gray","electric violet","radiant gold","deep indigo","pearl white"],"tanjore_prompt":"Tanjore painting style: Vishnu towering in protective stance with gold leaf aura, the devotee centered below within a circular prabhā of light, stylized shaking mountains and waves at the margins, rich reds and greens in garments, gem-like highlights, dramatic contrast between chaos and divine steadiness.","pahari_prompt":"Pahari miniature style: delicate depiction of a stormy sky and trembling hills, a calm devotee near a glowing lotus, Vishnu appearing in the clouds with refined features, cool blues and grays with thin gold accents, lyrical composition emphasizing serenity amid upheaval.","kerala_mural_prompt":"Kerala mural style: bold outlines, swirling cloud motifs, Vishnu’s steady blue form with large eyes, the devotee in prayer posture, symbolic shaking earth rendered as patterned waves and zigzags, warm yellow-red highlights around the protective aura.","pichwai_prompt":"Pichwai cloth painting style: central protective mandala around the devotee, Vishnu above with lotus and conch motifs, ornate floral borders contrasting with stylized storm patterns, deep blues with gold and white highlights, peacocks perched calmly despite the cosmic tremor."}

Sandhi Resolution Notes: acalaś = acalaḥ + ca; cālayel = cālayet + (lopa/metrical); lokānapāpo = lokān + apāpaḥ; jñānameva = jñānam + eva; tamasmi = tam + asmi.

FAQs

It teaches śaraṇāgati (taking refuge in the Lord) as the foundation of fearlessness, even amid cosmic upheaval or the loss of ordinary supports like moral certainty or intellectual confidence.

The verse refers generically to the Lord as the ultimate refuge; without additional surrounding verses, a specific named deity is not explicitly stated here.

It encourages steadiness: when circumstances, self-assurance, or even one’s sense of knowledge wavers, anchoring oneself in devotion and surrender prevents fear from dominating one’s actions.
