दममेव प्रवक्ष्यामि तवाग्रे द्विजसत्तम । दमनादिंद्रियाणां वै मनसोपि विकारिणः

damameva pravakṣyāmi tavāgre dvijasattama | damanādiṃdriyāṇāṃ vai manasopi vikāriṇaḥ

हे द्विजश्रेष्ठ! आता मी तुझ्यासमोर दम (आत्मसंयम) सांगतो. इंद्रियांचे दमन केल्याने विकारशील मनही वश होते.
