Adhyaya 79 — The Vaivasvata Manvantara: Classes of Devas, the Seven Sages, and Manu’s Nine Sons
karūṣaś ca pṛṣadhraś ca vasumān lokaviśrutaḥ |
manor vaivasvatasyaite nava putrāḥ prakīrtitāḥ ||
Enumerations like ‘nine sons’ are mnemonic anchors: they preserve cultural memory of dharmic polity and the transmission of social order through legitimate succession.
Vaṃśa/Vaṃśānucarita: dynastic cataloging as an essential Purāṇic characteristic.
The number-nine motif can suggest completeness in a cycle of progeny and governance; in Purāṇic style it marks a closed set within the larger time-cycle.
