Adhyaya 73 — The Uttama Manvantara: Classes of Devas, Indra Sushanti, and the Royal Lineage
viyonijanmano yasya yaśasā dyotitaṃ jagat | janma tasya manor brahman! śrūyatāṃ gadato mama ||
Great offices may arise through extraordinary providence; the text frames exemplary rulers as those whose renown ‘illumines’ the world—i.e., whose conduct becomes a standard for others.
Manvantara (and Vaṃśānucarita in anticipation): it introduces the origin story of the next Manu, typically followed by his era’s lineages and events.
Non-womb birth (viyoni) often symbolizes emergence from pure principle rather than ordinary causation—authority grounded in dharma/tejas rather than biological contingency.
