क्रमादष्टगुणान्याहुर्यवानष्टौ तथाङ्गुलम् ।

षडङ्गुलं पदं तच्च वितस्तिर्द्विगुणं स्मृतम् ॥

Transliteration

kramād aṣṭa-guṇāny āhur yavān aṣṭau tathā aṅgulam | ṣaḍ-aṅgulaṃ padaṃ tac ca vitastir dvi-guṇaṃ smṛtam ||

यांपैकी प्रत्येक पुढील मान पूर्वीच्या आठपट असे क्रमाने सांगितले आहे. आठ यवांनी एक अँगुल; सहा अँगुलांनी एक पद; आणि त्याच्या दुप्पट वितस्ति (बित्ता) स्मरणात आहे.
