Adhyaya 48 — The Emanation of Beings from Brahma: Night, Day, Twilight, and the Orders of Creation
उच्चावचानि भूतानि गात्रेभ्यस्तस्य जज्ञिरे ।
सृष्ट्वा चतुष्टयं पूर्वं देवासुरपितॄन् प्रजाः ॥
uccāvacāni bhūtāni gātrebhyas tasya jajñire | sṛṣṭvā catuṣṭayaṃ pūrvaṃ devāsura-pitṝn prajāḥ ||
त्याच्या अंगांपासून श्रेष्ठ व अधम प्रकारचे प्राणी उत्पन्न झाले. प्रथम त्याने देव, असुर, पितर आणि प्रजा—या चतुष्टयाची सृष्टी केली; नंतर पुढे (इतर सृष्टी) केली.
