श्वापदं द्विखुरं हस्ती वानराः पक्षिपञ्चमाः ।
औदकाः पशवः षष्ठाः सप्तमास्तु सरीसृपाः ॥
śvāpadaṃ dvikhuraṃ hastī vānarāḥ pakṣipañcamāḥ | audakāḥ paśavaḥ ṣaṣṭhāḥ saptamās tu sarīsṛpāḥ ||
हिंस्र पशू, द्विखुरी (खुर विभागलेले) पशू, हत्ती आणि माकडे; पाचवा वर्ग पक्ष्यांचा. सहावा वर्ग जलचरांचा, आणि सातवा वर्ग सर्पादी सरीसृप/रेंगणारे जीव असा सांगितला आहे.
