Adhyaya 21 — Kuvalayashva’s Descent to Patala and the Rescue of Madalasa
इयञ्च मूर्च्छामगमत् कारणं यत् शृणुष्व तत् ।
त्वयि प्रीतिमती बाला दर्शनादेव मानद ॥
iyañ ca mūrcchām agamat kāraṇaṃ yat śṛṇuṣva tat | tvayi prītimatī bālā darśanād eva mānada ||
आणि ती मूर्च्छित झाली—त्याचे कारण ऐका: हे मान्यवर, तुम्हाला पाहताच ती तरुणी कन्या तुमच्यावर अनुरक्त झाली.

Unchecked emotion can overwhelm the embodied mind (leading to mūrcchā). Purāṇic storytelling often uses such moments to raise questions of dharma, marriage, and right conduct.
Ānucarita (narrative of individuals). It is a social-ethical subplot rather than cosmogony or dynastic catalog.
‘Love from mere sight’ can symbolize the jīva’s sudden attraction to a perceived ideal; the swoon indicates loss of equilibrium when rajas dominates.
