सा बान्धवभयाद् बाला गर्भ तं॑ विनिगूहती । धारयामास सुश्रोणी न चैनां बुबुधे जन:,सुन्दर कटिप्रदेशवाली कुन्ती भाई-बन्धुओंके भयसे उस गर्भको छिपाती हुई धारण करने लगी। अत: कोई भी मनुष्य नहीं जान सका कि यह गर्भवती है
sā bāndhava-bhayād bālā garbhaṃ taṃ vinigūhatī | dhārayāmāsa suśroṇī na caināṃ bubudhe janaḥ ||
ती तरुणी नातलगांच्या भयाने तो गर्भ लपवून धारण करू लागली. सुश्रोणी असूनही तिने तो असा गुप्त ठेवला की लोकांपैकी कोणालाही ती गर्भवती आहे हे कळले नाही.
