सत्यार्जवं चातिथिपूजनं च धर्मस्तथार्थश्ष रति: स्वदारै: | निषेवितव्यानि सुखानि लोके हास्मिन् परे चैव मतं ममैतत्
satyārjavaṃ cātithipūjanaṃ ca dharmas tathārthaś ca ratiḥ svadāraiḥ | niṣevitavyāni sukhāni loke hāsmin pare caiva mataṃ mamaitat ||
भीष्म म्हणाले—सत्य, सरळपणा, अतिथी-सत्कार, धर्म व अर्थाचा उपार्जन, आणि आपल्या पत्नीप्रती निष्ठावान प्रेम—हीच गृहस्थासाठी या लोकातील योग्य सुखे आहेत. हे आचरल्यास परलोकातही सुख मिळते; हेच माझे मत आहे।
