स एव हाुस्तमयते स सम विद्योतते दिश:
sa eva hāstamayate sa samaṁ vidyotate diśaḥ | sa eva yathāsamayaṁ ālasyaṁ chittvā samantād diśaḥ prakāśayati, sa evāstam eti sa eva varṣati | brahman! taṁ baliṁ ahaṁ mṛgayamāṇo ’pi na paśyāmi | tvaṁ me rājānaṁ balikaṁ ācakṣva ||
भीष्म म्हणाले—तोच अस्ताला जातो आणि तोच समतेने प्रकाश पसरवून सर्व दिशांना उजळवितो. तोच योग्य वेळी वर्षाही करतो. हे ब्रह्मन्! त्या बलीला मी शोधूनही सापडत नाही; मला राजा बलीचा ठाव सांगा.
