Mutual Causality of Ignorance and Greed
अत्राप्युदाहरन्तीमा गाथा: सत्यवता कृता: । यथा कुमार: सत्यो वै नैव पुण्यो न पापकृत्
atrāpy udāharantīmā gāthāḥ satyavatā kṛtāḥ | yathā kumāraḥ satyo vai naiva puṇyo na pāpakṛt ||
या विषयातही सत्यवानाने रचलेल्या या गाथांचे उदाहरण दिले जाते—जसा बालक रण-द्वेषाच्या प्रेरणांपासून मुक्त असल्याने स्वभावतः सत्यनिष्ठ असतो; तो जाणूनबुजून ना पुण्य कमावतो, ना पाप करतो. त्याचप्रमाणे प्रत्येक श्रेष्ठ पुरुषानेही सत्यात स्थित व वैरभावरहित असावे.
शौनक उवाच
Truthfulness that is free from hostility and harmful intent is presented as an ideal: like a child who is naturally guileless, the noble person should remain established in truth and avoid deliberate sin, not being driven by aggressive passions.
