Dasyu-maryādā and Buddhi-guided Rāja-nīti (दस्युमर्यादा तथा बुद्धिप्रधान-राजनीति)

नविश्वसेदविश्वस्ते विश्वस्ते नातिविश्वसेत्‌ विश्वासाद्‌ भयमुत्पन्नमपि मूलं निकृन्तति । काम॑ विश्वासयेदन्यान्‌ परेषां च न विश्वसेत्‌

na viśvased aviśvaste viśvaste nātiviśvaset | viśvāsād bhayam utpannam api mūlaṃ nikṛntati || kāmaṃ viśvāsayed anyān pareṣāṃ ca na viśvaset |

ब्रह्मदत्त म्हणाला—जो विश्वासास पात्र नाही, त्याच्यावर विश्वास ठेवू नये; आणि जो पात्र आहे, त्याच्यावरही अति विश्वास ठेवू नये. कारण विश्वासातून उत्पन्न होणारे भय माणसाला मुळासकट छेदते. हवे तर इतरांचा विश्वास आपल्या प्रति निर्माण करावा; पण स्वतः मात्र दुसऱ्यांवर अंधविश्वास ठेवू नये.
