Adhyāya 115: On Restraint Under Verbal Provocation in the Assembly
yasya avācyaṃ na loke 'sti na akāryaṃ cāpi kiṃcana | vācaṃ tena na sandadhyāc chuciḥ saṃśliṣṭa-karmāṇā ||
A person who recognizes no limits on what may be said or done is ethically dangerous; the virtuous should avoid even verbal association with such a person, protecting their own purity and moral clarity.
In Shanti Parva’s instruction on dharma and conduct, Bhishma advises standards for association: the righteous should distance themselves from shameless individuals whose speech and actions have no restraint.
