āsādya bhīmasena tu saṃrabdhā yuddha-durmadāḥ | vineśuḥ sahasā dṛṣṭvā bhūta-grāmā ivāntakam ||

The verse underscores the inevitability of death and the limits of martial pride: even warriors intoxicated by battle-fury collapse when confronted with an overwhelming force, likened to Death itself. It cautions against arrogance (durmada) and highlights how fear and fate can instantly overturn human confidence.
Sañjaya describes how enemy soldiers charge at Bhīma in anger, but on meeting him they are swiftly annihilated. Bhīma’s presence and power are compared to Antaka (Death), before whom living beings lose their lives at once.
