Mahabharata 7.13.11Drona Parva, Adhyaya 13, Shloka 11

Droṇa’s sweeping assault and the Abhimanyu–Jayadratha close-quarters episode

sañjaya uvāca | yadi tasya raṇe sāhāṃ kurute vajrabhūt svayam, āptair āśu parijñātaṃ bhāradvāja-cikīrṣitam |

Educational Q&A

Even in a dharma-charged war, success depends not only on heroic vows but on clear information, trusted counsel, and timely preparedness. The verse highlights the ethical contrast between boastful triumphalism and the steadiness of a leader who learns the enemy’s intent and responds without losing composure.

Droṇa forms a resolve/plan to capture Yudhiṣṭhira. The Kaurava troops celebrate loudly upon hearing of this plan. Meanwhile, Yudhiṣṭhira quickly learns Droṇa’s intention through reliable informants and is thus not caught unprepared.
