Śaineya’s Breakthrough and Reunion with Arjuna (शैनेयस्य समागमः)
sañjaya uvāca
na goṣṭhayā nopakāreṇa na sambandha-nimittataḥ | nānāhūtaṃ nāpy abhūtaṃ mama sainyaṃ babhūva ha ||
The verse stresses ethical legitimacy and accountability in wartime organization: soldiers should be properly summoned and willingly enlisted, not obtained through manipulation, patronage, nepotism, or coercive seizure.
Sañjaya, reporting events, characterizes the composition of ‘my army’ as orderly and legitimate—asserting that no one was dragged in by force or included without being formally called—thereby framing the host as properly constituted in the midst of the Drona Parva war narrative.
