पाण्डव-वृष्णि-समागमः तथा अश्वमेध-अनुज्ञा | Reunion at the Kuru Court and Authorization of the Aśvamedha
परिक्षिदिति नामास्य भवत्तित्यब्रवीत् तदा । “कुरुकुलके परिक्षीण हो जानेपर यह अभिमन्युका बालक उत्पन्न हुआ है। इसलिये इसका नाम परिक्षित् होना चाहिये।” ऐसा भगवानने कहा
parīkṣid iti nāmāsya bhavatt ity abravīt tadā |
वैशंपायन म्हणाले—तेव्हा भगवान म्हणाले, “याचे नाव ‘परिक्षित्’ असो.” कुरुकुल क्षीण होऊन जवळजवळ नष्टप्राय झाल्यावर अभिमन्यूचा हा बालक जन्मला आहे; म्हणून याचे नाव ‘परिक्षित्’—वंशाचे रक्षण व पुनर्स्थापना करणारा—असेच योग्य आहे।
