एतत् सर्वमशेषेण पितामह यथातथम् | वेत्तुमिच्छामि धर्मज्ञ परं कौतूहलं हि मे
etat sarvam aśeṣeṇa pitāmaha yathātatham | vettum icchāmi dharmajña paraṁ kautūhalaṁ hi me ||
युधिष्ठिर म्हणाला—पितामह, हे सर्व काही उरलेले काहीही न ठेवता, जसेच्या तसे यथार्थपणे मला जाणून घ्यायचे आहे. हे धर्मज्ञ, माझी जिज्ञासा अत्यंत प्रबळ आहे; म्हणून मला याचा पूर्ण व अचूक वृत्तांत सांगावा.
