Bhīṣma uvāca | pānīya-dānāt prabhṛti sarvaṁ vakṣyāmi te 'n-agha | yad annaṁ yac ca pānīyaṁ sampradāyāśnute naraḥ ||

भीष्म म्हणाले—हे अनघ! पाणीदानापासून आरंभ करून मी तुला सर्व प्रकारच्या दानांचे फळ सांगतो. मनुष्य अन्न व पाणी दान करून जे फळ मिळवतो, ते ऐक.
