Dāyavibhāga (Inheritance Apportionment) and Household Precedence — Dialogue of Yudhiṣṭhira and Bhīṣma
देवदत्तां पतिर्भा्या वेत्ति धर्मस्य शासनात् । स दैवीं मानुषी वाचमनृतां पर्युदस्यति
devadattāṁ patir bhāryāṁ vetti dharmasya śāsanāt | sa daivīṁ mānuṣīṁ vācam anṛtāṁ paryudasyati ||
भीष्म म्हणाले—धर्मशास्त्राच्या आज्ञेनुसार जी स्त्री न्याय्य रीतीने पतीला प्राप्त होते, तिला तो देवदत्ताप्रमाणे आपली पत्नी मानतो. म्हणून तो तिला दैवप्रदत्त समजून स्वीकारतो आणि त्या विवाहाला अयोग्य म्हणणारी लोकांची खोटी वदंता दूर सारतो.
