प्रदाता सर्वलोकानां विश्व चाप्युच्यते महत् । ज्येष्ठभूतं वदन्त्येनं ब्राह्यणा ऋषयो5परे
pradātā sarvalokānāṁ viśva cāpy ucyate mahat | jyeṣṭhabhūtaṁ vadanty enaṁ brāhmaṇā ṛṣayo 'pare ||
तो सर्व लोकांचा दाता आहे—प्राण्यांना त्यांच्या इच्छित वस्तू प्रदान करणारा. हे महान विश्वही त्याचेच स्वरूप मानले जाते. म्हणून ब्राह्मण आणि अन्य ऋषी त्याला ज्येष्ठ—आदि व अग्र—म्हणून सांगतात.
