व्यजयच्छत्रुसंघांश्व देवानां स्वेन तेजसा । अत्रिणा दह्ामानांस्तान् दृष्टवा देवा महासुरान्
vyajayac chatrusaṅghāṁś ca devānāṁ svena tejasā | atriṇā dahyamānāṁs tān dṛṣṭvā devā mahāsurān |
भीष्म म्हणाले— स्वतःच्या आध्यात्मिक तेजाने त्यांनी देवांच्या शत्रूंच्या सैन्यसमूहांना पराभूत केले. अत्रीच्या तेजाने ते महान असुर दग्ध होताना पाहून, अत्रीच्या संरक्षणामुळे सुरक्षित झालेले देवही त्या वेळी पराक्रम करून त्या दैत्यांचा संहार करू लागले. अशा रीतीने अत्रींनी सूर्याला तेजस्वी केले, देवांचा उद्धार केला आणि असुरांचा नाश केला।
