Educational Q&A

The verse highlights a dharmic progression: withdrawal into āśrama-life (restraint and reflection), the emotionally and ethically charged recognition of one’s offspring/lineage, and finally instruction or course-correction that typically comes through a r̥ṣi like Nārada—suggesting that life’s transitions are best navigated through discipline, right remembrance, and wise counsel.

This is a cataloguing line that announces upcoming parva-level episodes: an ‘Āśramavāsa’ section, a ‘Putradarśana’ (seeing the son) section, and then a ‘Nārada-āgamana’ (Nārada’s arrival) section, indicating the sequence of topics to be narrated next.
