Educational Q&A

The verse functions primarily as a structural guide: it highlights how the epic organizes moral history through named episodes. By pointing to Ambā’s story and Bhīṣma’s consecration as distinct parvas, it signals that vows, duty, and their consequences are central ethical threads that the narrative will unfold through specific exempla.

The speaker is enumerating the sequence of sections within the text: first the Ambā-upākhyāna (the account of Ambā), and thereafter the Bhīṣma-abhiṣecana parva, described as ‘wondrous’. It is a catalog-like transition indicating what comes next in the Adi Parva’s arrangement.
