The verse functions as a guide to the epic’s architecture: it directs the reader to recognize the next major division (Udyoga Parva) and subsequent named sections. Ethically, it signals a shift from origins to responsibility—how leaders prepare for conflict, seek counsel, and confront inner turmoil, culminating in spiritual instruction (Sanatsujāta) that reframes power and mortality through dharma and self-knowledge.
This is a cataloguing transition: the text is enumerating what comes next in the Mahābhārata’s sequence. It points forward to Udyoga Parva (pre-war negotiations and mobilization), then to a section associated with Sañjaya, and (as reflected in the accompanying Hindi gloss) onward to Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s anxious wakefulness (Prājāgara) and the famous discourse of Sanatsujāta.
