आस्तीककथाप्रारम्भः — Beginning of the Āstīka Narrative

त॑ वासुकि: प्रत्यगृह्नादुद्यम्य भगिनीं तदा । नसतां प्रतिजग्राह न सनाम्नीति चिन्तयन्,इसी समय नागराज वासुकि अपनी बहिनको लेकर मुनिकी सेवामें उपस्थित हो गये और बोले, “यह भिक्षा ग्रहण कीजिये।” किंतु उन्होंने यह सोचकर कि शायद यह मेरे-जैसे नामवाली न हो, उसे तत्काल ग्रहण नहीं किया
taṁ vāsukiḥ pratyagṛhṇād udyamya bhaginīṁ tadā | na satāṁ pratijagrāha na sa nāmnīti cintayan ||
तेव्हा नागराज वासुकीने आपली बहीण उचलून मुनिपुढे आणली व स्वीकारण्यास सांगितले; पण ती माझ्याच नावाची आहे की नाही, असा विचार करून मुनिने तिला तत्काळ स्वीकारले नाही.
