Sūta (traditional Purāṇic narrator) recounting cosmography and dynastic details to the sages
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
This verse does not directly teach Ātman-doctrine; it functions as Purāṇic cosmography, listing the progeny of Śālmaladvīpa’s ruler. Its theological value is indirect—showing ordered creation (sṛṣṭi) and lineage as part of dharmic world-structure.
No explicit Yoga practice is taught in this śloka. It belongs to the geographic-genealogical register; Yoga and Pāśupata-oriented instruction appears in other Kurma Purāṇa sections (notably the Upari-bhāga’s Īśvara-gītā chapters).
It does not explicitly address Śiva–Viṣṇu synthesis; it supplies cosmological genealogy. In the Kurma Purāṇa’s broader frame, such world-order narratives sit alongside teachings that harmonize Śaiva and Vaiṣṇava perspectives, but this particular verse is descriptive rather than doctrinal.
