ato rocananāmāsau marudaṃśaḥ prakīrtitaḥ rāmāvatāre hanumānrāmakāryārthasādhakaḥ / sa eva bhīmasenastu jāto bhūmyāṃ mahābalaḥ
Lord Vishnu
Concept: One divine aṁśa manifests across yugas to serve avatāra-kārya: Hanumān as Rāma-kārya-sādhaka; Bhīma as mahābala instrument of dharma.
Vedantic Theme: Eka-śakti in many upādhis: continuity of a single power-stream (aṁśa) expressing through different bodies and roles.
Application: Model steadfast service: align personal strength with righteous purpose (kārya-sādhana) rather than egoic display.
Primary Rasa: vira
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
Type: region
Related Themes: Garuda Purana 3.16 (Marut-aṁśa/avatāra identifications across yugas)
This verse uses marudaṁśa to show that great heroes can manifest as partial expressions of divine powers, linking multiple lifetimes/roles (Rocana → Hanuman → Bhimasena) under a single spiritual source.
It identifies them as manifestations of the same being: first as Hanuman in Rama’s avatara to fulfill Rama’s mission, and later as Bhimasena on earth endowed with immense strength.
See strength and capability as meant for dharmic service—like Hanuman using power for Rama’s work—so one’s talents are directed toward duty, devotion, and protection of righteousness.
