मौनव्रतश्रुततपोऽध्ययनस्वधर्म- व्याख्यारहोजपसमाधय आपवर्ग्या: । प्राय: परं पुरुष ते त्वजितेन्द्रियाणां वार्ता भवन्त्युत न वात्र तु दाम्भिकानाम् ॥ ४६ ॥

mauna-vrata-śruta-tapo-’dhyayana-sva-dharma- vyākhyā-raho-japa-samādhaya āpavargyāḥ prāyaḥ paraṁ puruṣa te tv ajitendriyāṇāṁ vārtā bhavanty uta na vātra tu dāmbhikānām

हे परम पुरुष! मौन, व्रत, श्रुती-ज्ञान, तप, अध्ययन, स्वधर्मपालन, शास्त्रव्याख्या, एकांतवास, रहोजप आणि समाधी—हे मोक्षमार्गाचे उपाय बहुधा इंद्रिये न जिंकलेल्या लोकांसाठी केवळ व्यवसाय व उपजीविकेचे साधन ठरतात. अशा दांभिकांना येथे यश मिळत नाही।

This verse says that even if one performs many spiritual disciplines, discussion of the Supreme naturally manifests only in those who have controlled their senses; hypocrites (dāmbhikas) do not truly develop such God-centered speech.

While offering prayers to pacify the Lord after the slaying of Hiraṇyakaśipu, Prahlāda emphasizes that real devotion is not mere external show; genuine remembrance and glorification of the Lord comes from inner purity and sense control.
