द्रव्यसूक्ष्मविपाकश्च धूमो रात्रिरपक्षय: । अयनं दक्षिणं सोमो दर्श ओषधिवीरुध: ॥ ५० ॥ अन्नं रेत इति क्ष्मेश पितृयानं पुनर्भव: । एकैकश्येनानुपूर्वं भूत्वा भूत्वेह जायते ॥ ५१ ॥

dravya-sūkṣma-vipākaś ca dhūmo rātrir apakṣayaḥ ayanaṁ dakṣiṇaṁ somo darśa oṣadhi-vīrudhaḥ

हे राजा युधिष्ठिर! यज्ञात घृत व यव-तिळादी अन्नाची आहुती दिली असता त्याचा सूक्ष्म परिणाम धूर होऊन धूम, रात्रि, कृष्णपक्ष, दक्षिणायन इत्यादी लोकांतून क्रमाने वर नेतो व शेवटी चंद्रलोकास पोहोचवितो। नंतर यज्ञकर्ता पुन्हा खाली येऊन पृथ्वीवर औषधी, वेल, भाजी व धान्यरूपाने होतो; ते खाल्ले जाऊन रेत बनते व स्त्रीदेहात प्रवेश करून पुन्हा पुन्हा जन्म घडविते।
