श्रीभगवानुवाच नरेन्द्र याच्ञा कविभिर्विगर्हिता राजन्यबन्धोर्निजधर्मवर्तिन: । तथापि याचे तव सौहृदेच्छया कन्यां त्वदीयां न हि शुल्कदा वयम् ॥ ४० ॥

Transliteration

śrī-bhagavān uvāca narendra yācñā kavibhir vigarhitā rājanya-bandhor nija-dharma-vartinaḥ tathāpi yāce tava sauhṛdecchayā kanyāṁ tvadīyāṁ na hi śulka-dā vayam

Translation

श्रीभगवान म्हणाले—हे नरेन्द्र, राजधर्म पाळणाऱ्या क्षत्रियाने याचना करणे पंडितांनी निंदिले आहे. तरीही तुझ्या मैत्रीच्या इच्छेने मी तुझी कन्या मागतो; आम्ही कोणतेही शुल्क वा भेट देत नाही.
