दे॒वानां॒ पत्नीः॑ पृ॒ष्टय॑ उप॒सदः॒ पर्श॑वः

IAST Transliteration

devā́nāṃ pátnīḥ pṛṣṭáya úpasadaḥ párśavaḥ

English Translation (Griffith/Whitney)

The Consorts of the Gods are the back-parts; the Upasads are the flanks; the ribs are their enclosing stays.

Translation

देवतांच्या पत्नी या याचे पाठीचे भाग आहेत; उपसद् (यज्ञ-उपासना) हे याचे पार्श्व आहेत; आणि बरगड्या या याला चारही बाजूंनी धरून ठेवणाऱ्या आधार-कड्या आहेत.
