हे संक्षिप्त अथर्वणिक वशीकरण सूक्त, इच्छित व्यक्तीचे मन वक्त्याशी सुसंवादात ओढून, दोघांच्या सामायिक मार्गात ते “भेटावे, वळावे आणि स्थिर राहावे” असा हेतू धरते. यात नियंत्रणाचे दोन स्तर एकत्र येतात—पुराणातील आदर्श उदाहरण (अश्विनांचे परिपूर्ण समन्वयाने चालणारे रथप्रवास) आणि व्यवहारातील बांधणीची प्रतिमा (लगाम, गुंडाळणारे गवत). शेवटी, संमती व अनुकूल कल निर्माण करणाऱ्या औषधी/सौंदर्यात्मक आकर्षण-संयोगाने हे सूक्त समाप्त होते.

जसे अश्विनांचे हे वाहन एकत्र येते आणि क्रमाने एकाच मार्गाने चालते, तसेच तुझे मन माझ्याकडे येऊन माझ्याशी जुळो; आणि माझ्याबरोबरच वळून त्याच मार्गावर स्थिर राहो.

मी तुझे मन दाबून वश करतो—जसे पाठीच्या पट्ट्याच्या बंधनात राज-अश्व घट्ट आवळला जातो. लगामाने छिन्न झालेल्या गवताप्रमाणे जसे ते गुंडाळले जाते, तसे तुझे मन माझ्याभोवती गुंडाळून बांधले जावो.

अञ्जन (अञ्जन) मधु-प्रद, कुष्ठ (कुष्ठ) आणि नलद (नलद) यांपासून, तसेच भगाच्या त्वरित (तुर) शक्तीसह, मी दोन्ही हातांनी ‘अनुरोधन’—अनुकूलता/संमती मिळविणारा विजय-ताईत—उचलून प्रकट करतो, जेणेकरून मान्यता व संमती प्राप्त होईल.
