Sukta 16
अभि श्यावं न कृशनेभिरश्वं नक्षत्रेभिः पितरो द्यामपिंशन्। रात्र्यां तमो अदधुर्ज्योतिरहन् बृहस्पतिर्भिनदद्रिं विदद् गाः
abhí śyāváṃ ná kṛ́śanebhir áśvaṃ nákṣatrebhíḥ pitáro dyā́m apiṃśan | rā́tryāṃ támo ádadhuḥ jyótiḥ áhan bṛ́haspátir bhínad ádriṃ vídad gā́ḥ ||
As one decks a dark horse with glittering trappings, so with the stars the Fathers painted the sky. In night they set the darkness, and in day the light: Bṛhaspati clave the rock and found the cows.
जसे झळाळत्या अलंकारांनी काळ्या घोड्याला सजवतात, तसे नक्षत्रांनी पितरांनी आकाश रंगवले. रात्री त्यांनी तम ठेवले आणि दिवसा ज्योती; बृहस्पतीने अद्रि (शिला/खडक) भेदून गायी शोधून काढल्या.
