Sukta 3
vidmá śarásya pitáraṃ váruṇaṃ śatá-vṛ́ṣṇyam | ténā te tanvé śáṃ-karaṃ pṛthivyā́ṃ te niṣécaṇaṃ bahís-te astu bā́liti ||
We know the Father of the reed—Varuṇa of hundredfold virile might. By that (power) making welfare for thy body, upon the earth let thine outpouring be outside thee—so be it.
Rishi: Atharvanic tradition (attributed within the AV corpus to Atharvan/Angiras-type seers; specific r̥ṣi assignment depends on anukramaṇī tradition).
Devata: Varuṇa (as regulator of binding/release; here linked to virility and proper discharge).
Chandas: Anuṣṭubh (probable; standard for many AV domestic/healing verses—exact metrical scan may vary with pada resolution).
{"primary_rasa":"shanta","secondary_rasa":"adbhuta","emotional_arc":"From confident recognition of Varuṇa to calm normalization of discharge.","listener_experience":"A sense of being governed and safe; shame decreases, regulation increases.","intensity":4}
