एवं सा गोमती तत्र संजाता सागरंगमा । सर्वपापहरा प्रोक्ता पूर्वगंगेति या श्रुता
evaṃ sā gomatī tatra saṃjātā sāgaraṃgamā | sarvapāpaharā proktā pūrvagaṃgeti yā śrutā
ഇങ്ങനെ ഗോമതി അവിടെ ഉദ്ഭവിച്ച് സാഗരഗാമിനിയായി. അവൾ സർവപാപഹാരിണി എന്നു പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിക്കപ്പെട്ടു; ‘പൂർവഗംഗ’ എന്ന പേരിലും പ്രസിദ്ധയാണ്.
