गोः स्वर्गादागता यस्मादिदं स्थानं मती मता । तस्माद्धि गोमतीनाम ख्यातिं लोके गमिष्यति
goḥ svargādāgatā yasmādidaṃ sthānaṃ matī matā | tasmāddhi gomatīnāma khyātiṃ loke gamiṣyati
അവൾ സ്വർഗത്തിൽ നിന്നെത്തിയ ‘ഗോ’—ദിവ്യഗോവു—എന്ന് കരുതപ്പെടുന്നതിനാൽ, ഈ സ്ഥലം അതുപോലെ തന്നെ പുണ്യവും പൂജ്യവും ആയി മാന്യമാണ്. അതിനാൽ ‘ഗോമതി’ എന്ന നാമം ലോകത്തിൽ പ്രസിദ്ധമാകും.
