एवं शप्ता तदा देवी रुदोदातीव विह्वला । उवाच कृष्णं करुणं कथं स्थास्ये त्वया विना
evaṃ śaptā tadā devī rudodātīva vihvalā | uvāca kṛṣṇaṃ karuṇaṃ kathaṃ sthāsye tvayā vinā
ഇങ്ങനെ ശപിക്കപ്പെട്ട ദേവി, ഉച്ചത്തിൽ കരയുന്നതുപോലെ വിറച്ച് വ്യാകുലയായി, കരുണാമയനായ കൃഷ്ണനോട് പറഞ്ഞു—“നിന്നില്ലാതെ ഞാൻ ഇവിടെ എങ്ങനെ നിലകൊള്ളും?”
