पितामह उवाच । त्वया नान्नं क्वचिद्दत्तं कस्यचित्पृथिवीतले । तेनात्रापि बुभुक्षा ते वृद्धिं गच्छति दुर्मते
pitāmaha uvāca | tvayā nānnaṃ kvaciddattaṃ kasyacitpṛthivītale | tenātrāpi bubhukṣā te vṛddhiṃ gacchati durmate
പിതാമഹൻ പറഞ്ഞു—ഭൂമിയിൽ നീ ഒരിടത്തും ആര്ക്കും അന്നദാനം നൽകിയിട്ടില്ല. അതുകൊണ്ട് ഇവിടെ പോലും നിന്റെ വിശപ്പ് വർദ്ധിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു, ഹേ ദുർബുദ്ധിയേ.
